This French Limoges porcelain hand painted box represents the Marquise de Pompadour. This is a recreation of one of her portraits from an original painting of Le Boucher. The cameo is surrounded by 22 carat gold painting and silver accents. She is dressed in one of her “roses’ style dress “that created an elegant trend on the royal courts of Europe.
The Marquise de Pompadour was born in 1729. She had an artistic influence at the Louis XV’s French Royal Court where she promoted the arts and fashion. She helped to organize the Sevres porcelain factory which is still in existence today with its museum.
